How can AI contribute to a more sustainable future?
Artificial intelligence is changing the way we live, work and make decisions. At the same time, it raises important questions about sustainability. How can we use AI responsibly, and where can it help us address sustainability challenges?
RADAR-aim – Review, Assess, Develop, Adopt, Reflect on AI & Sustainability Micro-credentials – is a European Erasmus+ project that brings these two areas together. Partners from across Europe are working on a flexible, blended learning programme that explores AI and sustainability from different perspectives.
The programme is structured around micro-credentials and is designed for use across different learning contexts, including bachelor’s and master’s programmes, postgraduate education and lifelong learning. Rather than looking at AI only from a technical perspective, RADAR-aim also considers the ethical, societal and sustainability questions that come with its use.
The RADAR-aim partners
RADAR-aim brings together five partners from Belgium, Portugal, Germany and Italy:
- FARI – AI for the Common Good Institute – Belgium
- d-teach online training – Belgium
- Universidade NOVA de Lisboa / NOVA IMS – Portugal
Together, the partners bring experience in AI, sustainability, higher education, online and blended learning, and learning experience design to the project.
Our role in RADAR-aim
In the RADAR-AIM project, d-teach plays a central role as co-lead of Work Package 1 (review and Assess) alongside FARI, focusing on analysing existing online and blended AI and sustainability programmes, identifying gaps, and providing recommendations for innovative micro-credential offerings.
In addition, d-teach leads the Work Package on communication, dissemination, and sustainability, developing strategic initiatives to make AI and sustainability knowledge widely accessible and to maximise the project’s impact. In close collaboration with Università degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata, d-teach co-leads Work Package 3 (Develop and Deploy), taking responsibility for learning experience design and the technical and graphical development of online modules, in cooperation with other partners acting as subject-matter experts.
Through these roles, d-teach contributes to a forward-looking, international learning ecosystem that integrates online and blended AI and sustainability education. The centre ensures that the developed programmes are not only content-rich and accessible but also pedagogically and technologically innovative, equipping learners and institutions across Europe with future-proof skills.
